Biography of Adam Price

Adam won the Carmarthen East and Dinefwr seat in 2001, one of only 8 seats gained from Labour in the last general election. A former managing director of an economics consultancy firm, Adam speaks for Plaid Cymru at Westminster on Treasury and Trade and Industry matters. In 2002 he won the Spectator Magazine Parliamentary Inquisitor of the year, for his exposé of the Prime Minister's letter to his Romanian counterpart on behalf of the Labour donor Lakshmi Mittal.

In 2003 he uncovered a twenty year old European directive that has formed the basis for a legal challenge against the government by the workers of Allied Steel and Wire following the loss of their pensions. He has lead a campaign on the issue of the mistreatment of Iraqis and more recently called for the Prime Minister's impeachment for his conduct in relation to the war in Iraq.

Among campaigns of important local interest has been continuing the fight for justice on miners' pensions and miners' compensation, the problem of military low flying, the protection of local public services, including rural schools, NHS dental provision, hospital services, sub-post offices and benefits offices and the need for a genuine regional economic policy and reform of the Barnett formula.
